  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Pennsylvania A3 Switcher Errata

Hey everyone! I hope this is the correct sub-forum in which to post this.

A viewer recently sent me a precious long-lost document. There was once a community effort to document all known errors in Kozo's A3 book and it was posted on Yahoo Groups. Yahoo Groups went away many years ago and nobody archived it, so this errata was thought lost. Well, someone had it and sent it to me! I have cleaned it up and am now hosting it on my site, with my own thoughts added.

Hope someone finds this useful!

If anyone knows the original authour, please let me know so I can update it and credit them.

A bunch of the Yahoo groups seem to have been transferred to groups.io (I had never heard of Yahoo Groups until well after it was defunct, so somebody please correct me if I have that wrong). I see that there is a "Builders of Kozo's Engines" group on there. Could that be the successor to the one you mentioned? I'm not a member there, so I can't see if they have a file section/what's in there. It doesn't look very active (last post in 2023), but might be worth checking out anyway.

Love your channel Quinn. You’re one of the reasons I got back in to machining. I like that you show your mistakes, which helps the novice machinist like myself avoid doing them. Watching the building of the A3 switcher has been great. My favourite build so far might be a minor one, but very useful has been the cross drilling fixture. As to the original question, I think sightlessseer might have an answer.

Modeling in your context is not my thing. But lately, I have been using AI to find odd things like that. IMHO, AI isn't really intelligent, but it can do a faster and more thorough search of information than I can.

According to Perplexity, "There is no single individual credited as the main organizer; instead, it is a collaborative project where multiple users contribute and update the list of errors and clarifications."

I find that a little hard to believe despite the evidence which does tend to support AI's conclusion. More usually, there is a champion who gets something like that going and organizes the initial effort.

Have you reached out to the other people involved in contributing to the Errata to ask them how the errata work was started and who first organized it?

Even with my lack of personal interest, I can appreciate your efforts to help. Very cool Quinn.

Hey everyone!
I really really like your channel. The one called " Lathe Ways Cover - Lets Make One "was excellent. I hate the chips and other stuff getting into places that are hard to keep clean. So me being me, it caused me to make a simple solution that solved those problems as you outlined using the stretchable accordion apron particularly the billowing up as the cross slide moves closer to the chuck.

Depends on where you live; I found these options:

Quinn, I don’t know where in B.C. you are located, but seeing your interest in steam and if anywhere near lower mainland, I’d suggest a trip to see Chris Hollands 1.5” scale 4-6-6-4 Challenger. I know he’s trying to sell it, but if a person times it right you may still be able to see his masterpiece steamed up at BCME or Train Mtn this year.

User Pat Young there post the original errata file to Yahoo groups on Aug 5, 2006. Lots more items were detailed after that date so the file might be incomplete.
Thank you very much! I'll update my page. That thread you shared is enormous. Looks like a ton of great info. When I have time, I'd like to go through it and pull out all the relevant bits into one place.
