  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Ottawa area BBQ and Swap Meet August 30, 2025, 11am to 3pm

Are you close to choosing a date? No pressure, but even my light social calendar can have an occasional item added and I'd prefer talking machines and metalworking than listening to chit chat between the ladies about some entertainment thingy or other.
 
I live in Toronto, but have family in Ottawa. I would be up to attend if the date doesn't conflict

I will need to assess closer to BBQ day based how many people will attend. Possibly a lawn chair? We have a decent sized deck with 12 chairs so that will help.

End of Julyish I will start a PM for anyone planning to attend to nail down what to get for the BBQ, sides and refreshments.

I'm accumulating a tiny pile of tools, tooling for the swap meet. No idea if attendees will bring anything and if they do how that will be organized. Our suspended deck is ~70x8' and below it is a concrete pad, so perhaps that's a good place to display anything that makes its way, so a small tarp just big enough for your items would help.

I am collecting items that hopefully will become someone's treasure.
