Recently we had a thread going on the forum about a political topic in the off topic content area. The admin’s locked the thread and then deleted the content. Why would we do that when it is in the off topic area? Our motivation is to protect the safe and calm discourse on the forum avoiding topics which could split the membership. Politics is one of those topics. This has destroyed other forums and we don’t want that happening here. The forum is such a great meeting of the minds from across the the country - I’ve learned so much here and made new friends. I try to pay it forward and help people when I can and really appreciate the help I receive. I’m also sorry we may have hurt any feelings - my apologies.

The admin's guidance for members - please avoid topics likely to be controversial.

So people..... How do we coax @Chicken lights back to the forum? I for one would miss his posts and travel adventures.
I’m around just been pre-occupied, mostly with trying to match up parts/supplies with where I’m going to be next. It’s like trying to play blindfolded pin the tail on the donkey but the donkey thinks he’s funny and keeps moving. I have parts/supplies waiting for me in North Bay, Saskatoon and Edmonton :D

You're heading back to Edmonton?

You guys are all wusses. I do that all the time. In good weather!

The problem is that she chews my head off when I tell her she is going the wrong way so I have learned to just let her go whichever way she wants. Sooner or later she gets tired and let's me drive. So ya, 7 hours to drive 2.5 is pretty normal around here.

Farm boys in Saskatchewan:

You can never underestimate the innovativeness of Saskatchewan Farm Boys:

at a high school in the small town of Wadena in Saskatchewan, a group of farm

boy students decided to play a prank. They let three goats run loose inside the

school during school hours. Before turning them loose, they painted numbers

on the sides of the goats: 1, 2 and 4. School Administrators spent most of the

day looking for - - No. 3.

And you thought there was nothing to do in Saskatchewan!

The devil you say!

Meh. Any of y'all used to listen to the CBC on Saturday mornings (late '80's-early '90's) to stay caught up on the political world. Over the course of the morning, you could count on someone out of maybe four different outfits, absolutely LAMBASTING any politician that said something outrageous or stupid. If not all of them repeating the message. No Effs given what side they were on, in power or minority, just if they opened their yaps and said something stupid.

I miss that. Even handed accountability, even if only in the form of humor. At some point, management decided that they were only on side with one side, and that any lies that were wanted to be said, were OK, as long as they were about the side they didn't like. To be clear, I stopped respecting, or listening, to the CBC about that point. It was good. Until it took a side!

I like the goats with numbers! When my dad was in high school, they busted down the Principals car, and hoisted, then reassembled it, on the roof of the gym. They tack-welded most of the nuts when they stuck it back together....Took a week to find the car, another week to get it down and reassembled.

I think some of that Saskatchewan ingenuity was alive and well in Manitoba in the 70's. We had a tight group of friends we were more into athletics and none of us were into smoking/drinking/drugs more into pranks and mischief anything that would get us to laugh or chased because no one could catch us on foot. In hindsight we did a lot of stupid things but it was a lot of fun and I don't regret any of it. I think the video game culture has robbed the later generations of the time to think creatively.

We lived in a suburban residential neighbourhood, not far from where the once an hour transit bus would pause for a few minutes at the bus loop next to the local golf club, before starting the next loop. We kept those bus drivers entertained. Quite a bit of mischief can occur in two minutes while Mr. bus driver goes to take a leak at the golf club, Hmmm what are we going to attach to the bus tonight, the list was endless. Eventually the drivers started to do a quick loop around the bus to see what new thing had been attached to the rear bumper to be towed along for the ride. So we moved onto the next prank.
