My mill drill had an mt3 spindle and a drawbar. No place for wedges.

Other option is pewter, most pewter stuff you can find at thrift stores will be low or no lead, so safe and very easy to melt and cast. I melt it on a single-burner electric hot plate.

Ok, I get it now. He needs heavier mallet/hammer....

Yes, but no. Doesn't really need to be heavier. My plastic mallet works better than my brass one. It's all in the quality of the "thump"..... LOL!

I have got to try a plastic hammer or a dead blow hammer. My MT2 spindle is a real bugger to remove any MT2 arbor I stick in there. Everytime I hit the draw bar with a hammer I worry I will damage my spindle bearing.

There is probably a recommended torque rating out there but I try not to over tighten. It can suck the collet or arbor in tighter than it really needs to be, which just makes it difficult to remove. Bang-Bang removal is probably not great for the threads or the bearings. So tight enough so tool wont spin or loosen & just a teensy bit more. The way I stumbled onto this was occasional hand tightening & forgot to wrench obviously not paying attention. But I'm sure if it was heavier cutting I may not have gotten off as easy. My spindle is R8 so might be a bit different to MT. I use a Milwaukee cordless driver & socket on my drawbar, more as a reach convenience, but another plus is you can set the clutch torque & be somewhat consistent.
