  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. that would be a another solution if the design allows... perhaps Kelly can shed some light on this idea?
 
Thank you to all interested parties. The item is a very old safe, so far my research indicates possibly 1948 as there are 2 advertisements in Popular Mechanics magazine for this safe. I cannot find a single safe exactly like mine and the other ones of close vintage have significant differences in marking and function. More pictures forthcoming.

If we are going to continue talking about this Kelly you should join as a proper member and start a new post under the "projects" forum. As it is I have to manually approve every post as the spam preventer is doing its job. So there is a delay until I notice this needs doing.

No but the site hung me for the afternoon on my reply to you @Janger and was awaiting moderator approval? - soon as your pics came in it seemed to post?
 
Still can’t see picture in your post #12.

I do see all the additional ones and info subsequent to that.
 
I guess the dial is pressed on the rod, and a piece of fresh brass would be needed, or a 3DP pattern and cast bit of brass. If one needs to weld a shaft, what is the dial material? It looks soft ....
