  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. You knife makers please a question. - How is this kanji script embossed so precisely in this knife I bought? It really pops more so than the photos show?

I don't know for sure how that one was done, but I do know acid etching can be done on a blade. The blade is coated in a wax like substance and then when it is warm and pliable the wax is scratched off in the desired design. The blade then gets an acid bath and only the scratched off wax areas get etched.
 
I was watching a YouTube on making these kinds of knives and they literally use a sharp chisel and make every stroke by hand. !
