  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

If you want meaningful help, you are gunna have to give us a lot more info than that! Most of us are hobby machinists, not mind readers.

Project Description?
Software?
Relevant tooling available?
Tooling being used?
Operator Skillset?
Lots of Pictures?

Found this on the web
I just hate that scrib d site. omg it's annoying.
and yes we'd love to see some pictures and detail sof the new machine.

Yeah, more info. That will depend on your controller. It should be in the manual. The tool change instruction is probably an M code (likely M6).
So you’d send it T6 M6 ;

For a DX32 machine you need the semicolon. For an A2100 machine the semicolon is optional (unless you are adding comments). On the A2100 you can specify going to a predefined location before doing the tool change - then it is M6.1

You do have the manuals, right? I’m probably just a slow learner, but after going through the manuals over, and over, and over - plus a lot of trial & error testing of every line one can get good results.

Air pressure? That depends. It should say in the manual. There should be an onboard pressure regulator. It is probably going to depend on what the air is being used for. On my mill the air is used for an air purge on the main spindle seal - that is regulated down pretty low (~15 psi?), but the regulator feeding the tool change cylinder is higher (like 90 psi). The mill has an alarm and safe shut down (more of an interrupt) if the air press drops off. Can you just set it a bit above the alarm point? On the lathe the air is only used to purge the X axis scale, it uses 90 psi air, then a very small orifice to get down to a reasonable purge volume (and no alarm, so I kick myself when I forget to put the air on).

Like Susq says, need more information.
