Draw bar in use. I drilled in a spring pin as well as thread lock to lock the square head on the shaft.

Pressing the die M12 in the holder against the tail stock for alignment and manually advancing the chuck. Picture. Just learned that in class. Don’t do this under power boys...like this but with a die not a tap.

With a die not a tap you can do it under power. Results vary. Some come out perfect others not so much. Beats doing 30 inches of 3/8-24 by hand.

I guess with a gun tap or spiral tap or drill tap this could be done under power but I am too much of a chicken due to frequent tap breaking.
