If you could own just one special vehicle what would it look like?

Total thread hijack but here on Vancouver Island we have a local float plane airline who used to (may still have) a fleet of DeHavilland Beavers. They only fly with a pilot so the copilot seat is available for a passenger. When I used to fly to Vancouver and back for work I'd always try to get the front seat. Hearing that big radial engine fire up was always awesome!

Go to the other end of the island and if your lucky you could get a front seat in a G21, twice as cool as a beaver as you're between 2 of those round engines instead of behind one. I always loved driving them down a boat ramp and into the water.

197? Alfa Romeo GTV 2000. I had a 1974 back in the day. The only vehicle I wish I could have kept.

My 1969 1750 GTV (bought new in 1969) is still running around in Bolton. Fabulous car, cruise all day at 85mph. The best gearbox. And of course 2 2barrel DCOE's for sound effects.

I’ve never been much of a car guy, just didn’t interest me, but twenty or so years ago, I saw one of these drive by, and thought ‘I could move so much STUFF’.


When I moved to my current apartment, a neighbour had a 1965 Alfa Romeo GTV rotting away on top of a shipping container. Raccoons living in it, the works. Great lines, though…

Not only are they cool, but Volkswagen made a dual cab four wheel drive version. Only problem was a 2.1l flat four is just not enough grunt for a vehicle this solid, so don’t expect to go anywhere fast.

Bed sides fold down, there’s a huge storage bin under the deck, runs all the way across the box, with hatches at both sides (the panel immediately in front of the rear wheel).

I used to own one, I loved it, my ex-wife hated it. And I quote, “I hate this f@cking truck!”

The E-types look amazing from the side, but from the front or rear, the track is so narrow they look like they could tip over at a moment's notice.

I know that airline well, it has changed names a few times over the years, it was originally called Air West Airlines.
They were always cheaping out on regular maintenance and as a result had several crashes killing more than a few passengers and pilots, the public started calling them ScareWest Airlines.
Their first name change came shortly after, I worked as a dock rat for them when I was 18 pumping floats, fueling, washing and loading baggage, one of the best jobs I ever had, loved working on the aircraft.
They had 4 twin Otters, 5-6 turbo Beavers, 5-6 standard Beavers and one old single engine Otter (the Turkey)
That's me in the pilots seat in 1978.
