  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

How to measure high torque values?

I’m a bit late joining in here - and may have missed that someone already said this - but my 2 cents worth:
2008 truck has been exposed to lots of nasty road dirt & salt. Don’t just torque that assembly without cleaning the threads first.
Recommend torque specs are for clean, corrosion free, non lubricated threads.

if you have isolated the problem then you can skip this,I have a 2013 f150,that had clunks and weirdness happening that I couldn't find (I mean big noises) after looking around Ford recalls I found a recall to have control module reprogrammed it was for the transmission that caused the truck to downshift to 1st gear at highway speeds which then locked up and loss of control, had it reprogrammed (its free) and after...no clunks, noises no fear of being the next ford statistic. If this has nothing to do with what's happening I would check fords database they have all the trucks that have had this fix, you just put in the VIN number and it will tell you, this was a very serious recall, so its good to check anyways

Thanks for the tip. I've been meaning to check the VIN for recalls.

Back to torquing specs - almost 50 years ago a young engineer got fired because of improperly torqued cable clamps on a dragline. I got his job. I have always been very mindful of torquing specs
