Gerstner Tool Chests

Your design looks fantastic! Well done. Birds Eye Maple would really stand out if you end up using that.

Have you thought of asking Fusion how much it will weigh? I should have done that on my mill stand… the metal carcass is 100kg and I’ve got a feeling the Baltic birch plywood and hardwood top is another 100…

Not yet.. I am not going to change the design based on weight,

Birds Eye would look great but I think it all went into these charcuterie boards

Your charcuterie boards are beautiful, the Birds Eye maple would have looked fantastic on your tool chest though.

I'd like to claim that these are my charcuterie boards, but they were made by my friend Dave in Guelph with the great woodworking shop. He made a set of 9 for my brother, and 9 for me for helping him with some of his machine repairs and restorations.

I am sure that he has some more bird's eye stashed somewhere too, and perhaps could go that route if I don't like the quilted and curly pieces that are available.

I'd really wanted to use what bird's eye maple for tool handles after I torrefied and stabilized some of it. Especially a few plane totes.

I'm not too sure about the front panel on the base cabinet... but I will go to print on the dwgs and do a few mock ups to see what proportions look best
