On my mill at the top of the spindle housing, there is a little oil cup. Adding oil at this location mostly lubricates the quill, and excess just runs out the bottom onto the table. Is this also supposed to make its way to the spindle bearings?

Doesn't seem like much oil would actually make it the bearings?

I don't think I've ever seen a design that was booth oil and grease. On mine, that cup just oils the quill

My Hartford oils both. The result is a spindle bearing that was good as new. I didn't change it when I rebuilt it.

The other thing it has is oil drain holes in the spindle and spindle cap that do not exist in the Varidrv Bridgeport I had. I should add that the BP spindle was full of oil. I assumed that came from the same place as it did in the Hartford. But you know what they say about assume.
