The only inexpensive options really are the Amazon / Ali variety. The “Huangyang” ones are the ones that from what I’ve seen are the best of the Chinese. These are NOT CSA rated devices and cannot be installed legally and permitted/inspected by licenced electricians.

Automation direct is next in line, up in price, still affordable… and also from the US. Csa rated though. They have a good reputation.

Then we have the name brand stuff, probably around 500$ for a 2 horse 240v drive with shipping.

Then premium stuff like YASKAWA, Toshiba, etc. for the man with champagne pockets and discerning taste.

I as a professional electrician, own some Huangyang VFD’s personally and have no problems. Also have some automation direct and Schneider electric.

Amazon the Huangyang 3hp 1ph in 240v drive was 169.00$.

Sort of like autodark helmets, tear down a Miller and see the printed circuit board numbers and mfg, and then tear down a Princess auto helmet...oops same components but 10% of the price.

This may be true, but some companies (Chinese and otherwise) actually support their products and some don't even respond to questions.
