Hi Don! Yes lots of fabrication on this one. It's been fun. Still a few things I'd like to do, probably when I'm installing the scales for the DRO. I'm almost across the finish line, I still need a belt, scales that I'm picking up next week and I think I will add oilers and grooves to the y axis and flake it a bit, I did the X when I was modifying the table. So here's where I landed.
Z total travel is 15.5, X has 10 normally, in a pinch I can remove the end support and get another 4 so capable of 14 total. Y is 4.5 I will make a fixture plate for this table because of it's small size. the head assy has 5+" of travel which is the acme with the thrust bearing originally it was on a rack but the gear had beed damaged so I converted it. the location of the acme was originally a travel limit rod but the casting it fit through was missing so I made one from 4" square tube. The Quill has 4" of fine feed using a worm drive. The head rotates 180 degrees on the reducer. The servo motor is 1HP and driving 1 to 2, top motor speed is 5000 Rpm so a 2500 spindle speed is max. It is adjustable from 0 to 2500with the brass knob. The DRO is 3 axis I have power feed on X only The spindle has beed converted to R8 from B&S 7 should be much more useable. I'll make one more post on this thread once the scales are on and everything is working
