Audiophiles and Gearheads - is there any other hobby that has more pseudoscience?

I can't say I know what a bad acid trip is really like but I would imagine it would be similar to that.

Okay, but did you listen to them? These two boys from PQ are kicking extraterrestrial ass this year. That performance has had 20 million views, and the comments are priceless. I'll add that just listening to the CDs vs. watching them play are two completely different experiences. They even got a writeup in SciAm earlier this year explaining why everyone loves them so much.

And for the musicians in the room (in case you didn't catch it), both of the necks on that custom axe are microtonal.

Ya I admit it was pretty cool music but the visuals were pretty freaky and kinda set me back.

Well... I feel you. I confess that if I watched Johnny Horton (or Jim Reeves) play it'd probably give me the chills that only strong drink would bring me back from.

No shit.

We have a wood stove in one room in our house on the main level. It has no other head to it, so can be coolish in the winter. That stove costs us a $600 premium every year. Bastards...
It was Cooperators at the time.
Switching to a broker who shops us around saved us thousands of dollars in premiums every year when we ran the kennel.
I'm pretty sure when used car salesmen get bored they start working for insurance companies.
Farging bastages.

How long ago? We've been w/ Wawanesa for years.
I think i put the stove in like 15 years maybe and had Wawanesa until maybe6-8 years ago??? I don't really remember .
Ive heard that Wawanesa tends to be higher priced than many but Ive also heard they are better to deal with when you have a claim. I did have a couple of vehicle claims with them and I was actually pleased with them.
If it makes you feel better, I have a shack out in the woods in BC and there are no Alberta companies that can/will ensure me and only some in BC that will cover a log build and let me tell you that makes my Alberta insurance seem cheap!

I have to agree with @someidiot on the computer keyboards, to be honest. I don't think this is so much a science as a personal preference for many though. Admittedly as a late-comer to the heavy old buckling spring keyboards of days gone by, I grew up (well was raised, I guess i still haven't grown up) on one of these and have been chasing a comparable mechanical feel for years since i let it go (and yes it was for the interface limitations of newer machines 😕 and unreliable adapters I was trying to use at the time).

On the note of pseudoscience... how about that "tonewood" in electric guitars? 😀

I'm not going to claim to actually know anything about it, but it strikes me as something that matters an awful lot to people making acoustic instruments, and likely moreso in the case of the violin family, but probably matters quite a bit less in solid body guitars.

I have tried many different custom keyboards between lubed switches and foam liners and metal plates etc and can very well perceived the difference. Do I care? Kinda, not really, but others do. They have established their own standards of descriptions and vocabulary for the purpose of their shared interests.

I really like the Lenovo X/P laptop scissor switches with shallow travel over other laptop brands, but don't obsess over em. My friend loves the Lenovo keyboards so much he bought a dedicated keyboard using those switches and caps for us at his desktop computer.
