arbors for involute gear cutters

My mod-1 55mmOD x 22mm ID gear cutter set arrived, I'm quite pleased with how they look. There were several on Ali that looked generically similar but I ended up picking a set that was a bit more money ($65 for the set vs $40-ish for others). But my Spidey sense was a better vibe about the store. The cutters seem sharp & shiny & that's all I know right now.

Drawing up an arbor now. Shank is 18mm just to fit an R8 collet & TLAR top boss made from 1.25" stock, low profile end washer, retained with M5 flathead. I had intentions to drill a radial brass pin like @RobinHood but the keyway is quite wide & it seems like an odd dimension? I doubt I need it for these cutters anyway but incorporating anyways. For those who bought the R8 arbors, does this go around with your external integrated key? Maybe 6mm x 3mm nominal?

I have 2 styles of metric saw arbors, coincidentally for 22mm hole diameter. I think they will both work, but the better one has a land length closer to cutter thickness. Remains to be seen if the arbor length will work out for my setups but hopefully I can give them a spin. They may even offer longer ones. I'll check

type-1 land ~90% cutter thickness

type-2, land is maybe 70% of cutter thickness

I didn't use a key or pin on the arbor I made to cut the change gears for my lathe. Each tooth was cut to full depth in one pass and I had no cutter slippage on the arbor.20230408_093527.jpg

My laziness + Ebay sale made for an acquisition. R8 22mm keyed arbor for gear cutter. They all looked generically the same to me, so picked a seller that had similar machinery goods.
66CAD + 20CAD shipping, 2 weeks to deliver. Fits the cutters perfectly.

Runout is 0.0018" at base of shank and 0.0005" near top. Not sure yet how that repeats or what my cutters are. OK time to give them a test drive.

Those are pretty much exactly the results I got when I spun up my arbour. I was genuinely impressed.
