8 inch shaper vice $100

I asked him this morning and he hasn't received the money order yet...... I will let you know as soon as I can that clearance has been given. :)
Thanks again.

I just checked the tracking number and it's at his post office, but not delivered, so, I would assume when ever you are going that way next ...... I gave you Paul's number didn't I?

Yes he did, and I sent it registered mail, so, I know that he got it. He has three vises, so maybe the other two are still available.

Shaper vice...... It's just about perfect for my 12" shaper....

Trying to replace this are we....

Yeah, I plan to move this one over to the 16" shaper, I think it is still a little bit big for it as well but I am going to make do, ss this isn't really a hub for machine tools. I drove 8 hrs round trip to pick that one up after work.

Yes he has.... Not sure what happened, I posted looking for a ride for it, but it disappeared. ‍♂️

There was a website hiccup and some posts and PMs were lost. Post it again and as I said if we can get it to Calgary I'll take care of getting it mailed to you.

an update for the guys. I had to break the vise down into 3 parcels to ship & the biggest piecethat wouldn't break down any smaller made the minimum shipping weight by 2.5 kg. total shipping weight was 55.4 kg- 128.8 lbs....heavy sucker.
Don, I have been trying to text you the tracking #'s for 2 days but wont go thru. will try again this evening.

Way to go Doug, I thought you were just going to sit on it. Very decent of you to break it down and mail it out. PM @140mower the tracking numbers.

How did it break down into 3 pieces? What did CP charge?

It broke down easily enough, had a lot of rust in the turn-table joint but a couple taps got that apart. The vise jaws have a couple marks on them (appear to be peening dents) but nothing serious....basically it is in very usable condition. Bolts are metric so think it is European manuf.
Ohh ya Don, the one bolt that is missing was not in it when I got it and being metric ,I didn't have one around to replace it for you.

Craig shipping by C.P. was over 150 by cheapest option avail.

Thanks again Doug, if I don't have a bolt that size, I might make one.... I need to get more comfortable with the transposing gears for cutting metric threads, so a win win, a little bit of practice, and part from scrap. ;)

Yup, but try buying a new one for that price, or any other price for that matter. I paid 175 for the 12" shaper and picked up the 16" one for free, so adding a little bit more still seems cheap.

Not a problem Don. I think the bolt is just a common 12-1.75 but I didnt have one and wasnt going to Red Deer soon.

I'm betting 1500 wouldn't buy that vice new now.
Damn, I just run the tracking #'s and CP doesnt even recognize them yet.

I just ran the numbers and they have passed through Edmonton on the 24th..... Expected delivery date is January 6th....
I think you are right about the $1500..… I almost bought one a few years ago for $450, it just wasn't the right time, so I let it go. Patience has paid off and I have saved enough to justify the purchase of a vfd (providing I toss in a few bucks to make up the little shortage...... :p)
