The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Oops, I got my X's and Y's mixed up.

Dyslexics of the world,,, UNTIE !

Somehow or another untie actually does sound better!

To be honest with you, I have no trouble with x, y, or z on a Mill. But the only one I ever get right on a lathe is Z!

I have no clue on a surface grinder.

If anyone has a little ditty or memory jog, it would be appreciated by a whole raft of us untied sickos.

On a SG, the convention I was introduced to is the left/right motion is X, the motion towards you is Z and the up/down is Y.

This is because the spindle is always Z, and the most common or longest motion is X, and the remaining must be Y.

Yes, that's why I always have no trouble with Z - it is always the spindle axis of rotation.

It's X & Y I have trouble with.

Makes some sense to make the long axis X.
