    Tool Optical Centre punch.

Reading this post was great, until the end, when I found that I have NOT received training on how to centre punch "properly". I just try to get it as close as I can , but seldom get it spot on. Any chance of a description of how to do it "manually" ? Mike

    Tool Optical Centre punch.

It wasn't clear to me what the (plastic? ) material is. And does making the 2 ends of it slightly round create the magnification lens ? I think it does, but roughly how much rounding is needed. I scrolled back and forth on that video several time trying to ge answers, but to no avail. Looks...

Planning a manufacturing class for coworkers

I really like the idea of what you are doing. Engineers will have learned pV=nRT. So a fire piston would be a great way to make someting "practical" Takes theory and makes it practice including safety. Planning, measuring, machining are all involved, and the results are immediately evident...

Churchill Cub Mk III lathe for sale

Looks like a machine that I could use. I presently have a 13 x 48 South Bend that is a bit to large for my space. Now if I could find a new home for the South Bend ( has 2 HP , VFD, 3 jaw, 4 jaw, steady rest .etc) for $1200, I'd take the Churchill. Mike ( in Toronto)

    Spot Welder at PA

Spot welding is resistance welding. The idea is that you have a path for the electric current that is very very low resistance, i.e. the transformer secondary and the heavy copper bars / tip. The piece to be welded is (supposed to be) much higher resistance i.e. 2 thin pieces of sheet steel...

    FS Bench top Cataract Lathe

OK, to see if there is any interest from lurkers or others, I'm adding my early bench top, shop made milling machine to the deal for the Hardinge Cataract lathe. Again, it is a modest machine, but with some patience and care, does good work. It uses the electric drive from a lawnmower, with a...
