  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. Tool Lathe Cutting Speed Circular Slide rule...

Saw this in a photo of a lathe being auctioned off. Apparently this is mounted on the side of the lathe. Near as I can tell, it's metal and the dimples are for your finger. Rotate the inner wheel to align diameter with cutting speed and the matching RPM is displayed. Recommended cutting...

    US Tariffs

Just a heads up. I just bought some motorbike stuff from a company in Germany. Shipping with UPS. I expected an invoice for duty, taxes & of course, the brokerage fee. I didn’t look at the invoice (from UPS) closely enough. Canadian Duty was there, taxes were there along with the brokerage...

Symbols used in Harold Hall’s component details

At the risk of announcing my ignorance but in pursuit of reducing it: What do the symbols (two concentric circles and the trapezoid) mean? They appear in most of the component details in Harold Hall’s books but I have not found any reference as to what they signify… Thanks in advance!

    R8 FMB22 Arbor & 400R End Mill Cutter

I bought this off Amazon, shipped direct from China. I actually bought it three times. The first two times (different seller each time) it simply did not arrive and I received full refund (after waiting up to three months!). In each of those cases, I was informed it had shipped, was charged...

    T-Slot Cutters

I did a search here and it came back with zero results. If it has been discussed, please point me in the right direction... Otherwise: I'm looking to cut a t-slot. The slot I'm hoping to duplicate has a "TEE" section 1.156" wide (the bottom of the "T") by 0.218" deep. The throat is 0.750"...

    Greetings … take 2

Hello. Saying hello. I signed up and introduced myself a couple weeks ago, then my registration was caught in ether limbo as part of the big site crash. Fortunately the Admin & Moderators have managed to resurrect my identity and here I am. Looking forward to learning what I can; contributing...
