  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. Shop Justification - 30 Euro Bolt

It's a good thing I bought all that equipment and tooling over the past 30 years. Even learned to use it reasonably well. Went for a bike ride yesterday and upon arriving back home I put the side stand down as one does in preparation for opening the shop door. The bike didn't want to stop...

    Another runner - Howell V-Twin

Happy with how the latest shop project turned out. It's a 32cc 90 degree V-Twin to a design by Jerry Howell, a well known model builder and designer. Although Jerry is no longer with us, his son still makes the collection of drawings and hardware available. It was a fun build to a very nice...

    EDM (Ben Fleming design)

Anyone want to "have a play" with an EDM to the Ben Fleming design? I built one a number of years ago. It has been used a couple/three times but is sat on a shelf since. Need to start moving on things I don't use anymore... I'd rather not ship it but will willing hold it until you can arrange...

    Donkey Engine Model

Thought I'd share my latest. It's a model donkey engine based on the Wm Harris drawings but at 60%. I wanted it to be small enough to use the 3" vertical boiler kit from PM Research. The engines are 0.6" bore and use Elmer's Engines slide valve design. Perhaps some of our members, especially...

    1910 Anzani Y-Type

Last autumn I gathered up the drawings, magazine articles and castings for a 1/4 scale Anzani 3-cylinder radial model (aka Y-type). The castings consisted of crankcase halves, rear cover, carburetor and intake pipe elbows. Everything else is bar stock. Yes, that includes the cylinders. They...

    "Mcgyver" Nut drivers

After being reminded of an excellent way to solve my "I never have the correct size handy" problem, I made my own set of BA and Imperial nut drivers. Thanks again for the inspiration to actually do this. Now I just need to do some tests to see if milling a flat on each handle and engraving the...

    Minnie Traction Engine (1" scale)

Now that I've been poking my nose in here more often I guess I better post something what I've actually accomplished in the shop recently. Just finished a model traction engine of the "Minnie" design in 1" size (i.e., 1" to the foot). It is a freelance design of no particular actual engine...

    New member from Vernon BC

Hello everyone. I'm looking forward to "reading the mail" on this forum and becoming familiar with the interests and membership. I'm kept busy in my shop in the main with steam and internal combustion model engines. So far only single cylinder steam but have everything from hit and miss to a...
