  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Want to know about the current situation of Canadian machining enterprises, who can talk about it briefly?

I have been in the manufacturing field for about 15 years, based in Calgary. Currently, I'm part of a dedicated team of 40 at our shop. We handle a variety of tasks including laser cutting, water jet cutting, press brake work, roll forming, welding, CNC machining, and honing. Our pillars are...

Tool Air compressor fill time sanity check

David what make and model is your compressor? Some of the companies like Colman and husky exaggerate the cfm of their pumps. Even really good companies do that too.I measured my atlas copco and it wasn't getting to the advertised CFM. In that case I might have been under driving the pump.

Storing material safely is expensive, most businesses need to compare the cost of buying new material with storing...

    Windows-11

I run windows 11 on my desktop. I built my own computer too. I don't mind messing around to get things configured the way I want them. The biggest difference I noticed is splitting the screen into multiple windows is easier. Also you can add or remove displays while windows is running and it...

What did you do for a career and would you pick it again?

I am a machinist, it is pretty fun. It is also a timed event so you need to get excited about working quickly. I work with engineers and draftsman who come down to the shop and actually make stuff. It helps them learn to design better parts. It is also a good way to take a break from the...
