  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Free oxi torch head rosebud

I’m in onterrible Hamilton/Cambridge area. This tip is nearly the same size as my small victor but sightly larger. The threaded collar slips over the base just slightly

Swedish berema all gear drill press project

not sure about the 3 phase there’s no data plate unfortunately, there are 6 leads on the windings. Hi/lo for sure, looking on line there is actually a decent amount of info including a ‘restoration’ on YouTube even. Pics have a switch on the head, I’ll have to look through the box of extra...

    Free oxi torch head rosebud

just bought this assuming it would fit my small victor torch. It does not. :/ pic shows the inner thread size if you can figure if it fits your set up. free. Or a beer and/or compelling machining stories and other assorted bullshittery

Swedish berema all gear drill press project

I got this drill press in the package deal of my machines. Has gear box speed controls. The motor is internal and had unexplained “issues” not sure what or why. The millwright whom I bought it from had the idea to mount a motor on the top mounting the input gear from the original rotor. Drill...

Looking for some electrical help (reversing motor)

I can identify one side of the start winding as the wire the start cap goes to (both winding are the same gauge) but if I can read conductivity on two other wires with my ohmmeter the other side must be buried inside the windings somewhere. Hence why I have 5 winding connections rather then 6...

Looking for some electrical help (reversing motor)

As far as rpm I planned on running a small to lower the rpm more inline with the lathe. John I had watched his video as well, that’s more or less what I’m trying to accomplish but can’t figure these points out. you can see in the pic the insulation wraps on the winding connections, one @12...

Looking for some electrical help (reversing motor)

Yeah the 4 wire set up doesn’t just let you switch wires for reversing. Cuts inside will have to be made. I’ve got it apart now trying to figure it out. woodgears is a video I did check out. He touches on a two Cap motor, but doesn’t reference it when detailing where to swap wires. I wondering...

Looking for some electrical help (reversing motor)

Well I thought I scored when I found a 5hp motor in like new shape at the local surplus store at a reasonable price. I didn’t notice it was labeled in the opposite rotation. I know you can rewire by reverse the starter winding, but I can’t find a diagram that matches my 110/220v start and run...

    Looking for motor

Ugh! And I had just bought one last week! That would have been perfect! Probably the right size pulley even!!! found a 5hp at a surplus store. Just need to rewire to change rotation

    Used tool shop in Hamilton

For sure, it’s slightly better then a dirty pawn shop, and there’s a few things in there with a price tag that will give you a laugh! I would never visit a place like that is it wasn’t for the machinist stuff. The tooling will bring me back when I need something. I didn’t know it had been...
