    DavidR8's shop shenanigans

Does anyone use a snap-in, pinned or other type of quick release attachment method for the scales? As I understand it, getting it into the exact same place when it’s installed or replaced Isn’t critical, but it needs to be locked in and not move once it is in place. A quick release latch might...

2021 Modern universal milling machine X6323A, Auction, canadawestauctions.ca

Only 3 HP and 220V, 1 Ph. From looking at it, I was expecting a lot bigger motor. 3 HP is hobby-friendly!

    US Tariffs

Just a heads up. I just bought some motorbike stuff from a company in Germany. Shipping with UPS. I expected an invoice for duty, taxes & of course, the brokerage fee. I didn’t look at the invoice (from UPS) closely enough. Canadian Duty was there, taxes were there along with the brokerage...

    Splined coupler

Yes, I thought that might be a problem, with the shaft being horizontal. I used this for wrench/lever for the top nut on my QCTP. The socket sits down on it so no droop. Lots of splined shafts in cars. I think this was mentioned (#6,@Dan Dubeau ), but, the axles on a lot of smaller FWD cars...

What about a nut and a 12-point socket?

    King 1440 Lathe Speed plate

If the motor is not original, is it the same speed? (so the speed table is correct…) And/or, is it 3 phase (for use with VFD)?

    Milling machine, $2800, Sundre, AB

Could a person swap the 10 HP motor out for a much more “hobbyist-friendly” 5 HP motor? You might not be able to “take very large cuts”, but I think most of us could live with taking more, less aggressive cuts. I just don’t know what else would have to be replaced.
