Tips/Techniques Show your shop related 3DP

I'm running the original 1 hp, 2-speed, 3-phase motor powered and controlled by a Vevor 2.2kw VFD. I gutted the drum switch and wired it to the VFD low voltage inputs for forward and reverse. The speed control is just a 10k ohm potentiometer also wired to the VFD inputs and the tach is a $20...

    Solitary Bee House

I like it! That's my new "reason". Speaking of yellow-jackets, I finally found a bait that they will take. Boric acid comes in a bottle with a small thimble cap. Fill that cap and mix it with a tablespoon of canned cat food. I've had them take it all in a day and want more. I haven't seen any...

I've been getting my springs off eBay. There a numerous vendors at very good prices as long as you can tolerate metric sizes. Now I'm wishing I'd stocked up.

    SouthBend turret toolpost mounting questions

I dug mine out. You are missing the sub-plate which has the round, dovetail boss. You would remove the compound and mount this instead. This is designed to be a rocker style (note the curved bottom of the slots) and needs to have the shims with the same curve.

    What size Lathe ?

I realize location makes a huge difference, including being north of the line, but something like this is what I would recommend. Be sure to watch for a quick-change gearbox. Patience pays off. Have the cash in hand and be ready to jump quickly. (Yes, that's USD)

    What size Lathe ?

I have a South Bend Heavy 10L, it's just about the smallest lathe I would want to own. Being the "L" model, it has a 1-3/8" spindle bore, which allows passing a much larger shaft through the spindle than the 10R. Don't buy a lathe that is barely big enough to do the job you are currently...

All versions can be freely downloaded and installed. It's when it comes time to activate that the truth becomes revealed. Microsoft's current activation scheme (at least I think it's current) is based on Hardware ID (HWID) of the system. It has been a real boon from my perspective. Once a...
