  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    3C Collet: 12 mm

It is an 8.375" long drive shaft that I am replacing. I already ordered the 12 mm stock. Needs to fit bearings. Easier to deal with correct sized stock to start with. Collet work makes things easier if I can get it.

Not even close with the 1/2 3C. I would need to shim it.

    3C Collet: 12 mm

Hey All, Looking for this collet and have come up with only one source ToolsEngg (India) that will supply minimum 2 for $65 CAD each ++...$140 CAD shipped. Anyone have an extra or even a partial/full set they would consider selling?

CoreXY printer on the cheap end that seems to work, but not quite prime time...

Yes, you can certainly do the A1 with the larger build plate/volume. I don't believe there is any measurable quality difference between the two. It is roughly $200 more but if you need the volume, that is a no brainer. Because I wanted to dabble with a 3D printer, never having one or a real...

CoreXY printer on the cheap end that seems to work, but not quite prime time...

I agree with David but if you are good with 180 mm cubed build volume, you will love the A1 mini. Don't even think about it. I never had a 3D printer until I bought mine. I can't live without it now. Those little things that you wish you could simply make are now that easy to do so. Right...

    I bit the bullet

I too finally got into it in September with the A1 mini. Honestly it is the most fun I have had in a long time! I have put in close to 400 hours printing all kinds of fidget stuff (I didn't realize I liked fidget toys so much!), Halloween and Christmas trinkets and decorations. Then I started...

    Repair or replace?

You could mill that end off down to the last crack and start a new roll pin hole 90 degrees to the first. That way there is no further chance of crack propagation.

a little excitement in my day

Time to install this if you don't already have it: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B086QMNXFQ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details Don't opt for the cheaper ones if you want excellent night vision, clarity, solid wi-fi connection, etc. You can add more ring cameras around the house. At least...

Vertical mills... Buy once or baby steps?

If you can run it before buying it, that will help the decision. Look at the ways for flaking wear. See what might be broken. It is easy to get parts from H&W. They are easy to work on.
