  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Cutting HSS Lathe Bit Stock

My wife was/is an RN for 40 years before getting a 100% desk job. When she started volunteering at a local school she needed to get fingerprinted to get a background check: two different agencies tried and gave up: multiple hand washings with antiseptics took a toll on her hands.

Workplace Safety at work and in the home shop

The best Safety Supervisors/Managers have previous hands-on experience in the specific industry so they can relate and effectively communicate with the people they are trying to protect. They also need to have experience in managing people because they are going to need to educate and if...

    Hello!

My only experience with a true drive-into/through Beer Store was just South of Wapakoneta, OH (birthplace of Neil Armstrong) in the early 90's. Jax Liquors in Jacksonville, Fl (ca. 1976) had drive up windows, and most also had a bar attached.

Tried that at Ocean City, NJ years back: was about what you would have expected from a boardwalk joint (they need to stick with Salt Water Taffy – no pun intended). Duff Goldman tried a version of chocolate covered bacon in one of the Food Network "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" episodes - it was...

    Physical activities…..

    1) About 2 years before I retired I pushed back against our Marketing Manager, who never brought any clients in but would push push push those of us who understood what we did and how to help our clients: one day when I took my hands off the steering wheel after I parked in the lot they were...

    Physical activities…..

Was never very athletic and was described as “husky” growing up. I got up to 230 while driving ships, but by not snacking, cutting back on beer and having regular racket ball games I got down to 185 by the time I started at Hershey in 1979. In 1983 I was down to 165 due thanks to a 3-story new...

I don't think my personal trainer would travel that far, but maybe she would if you offered her a Baltimore Bomb Pie a month plan.

    Physical activities…..

Now that I'm allowed to, I go to the Fitness Center 3 times a week to continue strength building; as a warm-up I do 15 minutes on an elliptical. Mostly I walk: outside if at all possible, otherwise go to a mall (or Sam's & Costco) or walk the track in the gym. I'll also use the stationery bike...

Other Mechanics of Machines - textbook

Thanks, David! However, the website shows the inability of AI to think and do full research – while the file was downloading I was shown "Similar" options: Someone is going to be really disappointed if they downloaded this one!

Actually, he just had an “unusual” sense of humor (droll, as I think our friends in the UK would say); some examples: After I was broadsided in my S10 Blazer, ending upside down in a ditch with a cracked rib resulting in a slight deformation of the sternum I asked would that interfere with CPR...
