  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Really ?

wait I got another....... On my wife's 2015 forester the hatchback hinge gap collects snow and ice that is impossible to remove! Then once the inevitable ice-berg forms in that space you cannot open the hatch completely. If you just unlatch and let it spring-up it only goes about 3/4 of the...

    Spring is Here!

....the other weird thing for me about young deer in the yard is one early, early foggy morning when I was sure I hear a child in the yard call "Dad, Daaad!" kinda eerie until I woke enough to understand that it was a young dear calling for Mom. Brian

    Standard Modern Series 2000

Marmora mines. Yeah what an amazing place that was. I remember driving the 1980 Plymouth Horizon in there thru the abandon railway route. We just fit between the boulders. Very bipolar. You could run up the side of the pile and think you were at the top only to discover another pile, again...

    Spring is Here!

I don't mean to be a downer, but unfortunately another sign of spring is the several black-legged ticks we have already pulled off the 2 and 4 legged animals here. I guess the other reason it jumps to mind is that I read that part of the tick life-cycle is on mice and part on deer. In summer...

Shop it seems simple, but I need help........ Hammer organization

I already have too many piles and not enough surfaces. Currently I can't get to the surface of the welding bench, or the table saw. A pile of hammers is a little intriguing, I wonder how high the pile would be if I brought them all to one place..... steel-toe mandatory area for sure. Watch for...

Shop it seems simple, but I need help........ Hammer organization

At least you can see the spectrum of hammers at a glance. The one I want is always hidden in the back-bottom corner of the drawer, even if I can see it I gotta move several others to get at it. Frustrating! (thus the thread) Once I get more space I could see a dedicated hammer rack. But the new...

    Standard Modern Series 2000

@JeffD Hi and Welcome! My parents lived in Foxboro, I was born in Belleville General Hospital. My wife and I lived near Frankford for a spell around 1994. I still have family in Foxboro, Stirling, and Belleville. Brian EDIT: oops I see now that this is an old post, just recently revived....

Shop it seems simple, but I need help........ Hammer organization

Hi All, My name is Brian and I have a problem. I like to have the right tool for the job. That means I need a couple different types of hammers. Claw, different sizes, and ball peen and some different weights, and maybe cross-peen. Okay, several. I do sometimes need a mallet, plastic faced...

    Really ?

@Elektrishun A great list of some of societies more recent failures! The last heated side mirror replacement on my old truck was a dollar store mirror cut to shape with a custom heating element of nichrome wire that I calculated, cut to length and then stuck on the back with JB-weld. It worked...

    Really ?

^This is the very reason I absolutely dread having to replace any of our vehicles. I do NOT want a touch-screen, I do NOT want an infotainment system, I do NOT want lane departure warnings, I do NOT want a vehicle with a wifi or cellular link, I do not want a phone app for my vehicle. Just...

Leblond Regal Lathe, Ottawa, Crown Assets

I thought I'd share a bit more photo evidence of moving day. First, I loaded the tractor onto the trailer and headed North: I dropped the tractor off at @SightlessSeer 's place and we headed across the city to the NRC. Next a couple photos just after loading the lathe: However, we...
