I am a mechanic by trade and my machining experience is a single machining class in college in 1986.
Recently I bought an Atlas 10 inch TH54 lathe at an auction. I have been just have a hoot fixing it up and making run smooth. I have allready made a bushing for the tailstock handle on the lathe so my favourite saying is "Lathe, fix thy self."
Still working on figuring out what attachments I need.
Looking forward to gaining wisdom from the huge wealth of knowledge here as I am still cutting my baby teeth, umm er threads. ( no, I haven't cut threads yet but I did see the chart.)
Thanks
