WTB: Starrett No.98 6" precision level

The nice thing about most of these levels is that they can be so easily proved. The other thing is that a true level to that precision isn't required at all. In most cases, a bed just needs to be consistent at both ends - ie not twisted (unless intentional). That means that the level accuracy isn't as important as its ability to ascertain the same consistent "unlevelness" at both ends. Although I don't have one like that, I'd guess that a cheaper off-shore level would be just as useful as a good Starrett for Lathe levelling. For other uses, I think it's probably better to make sure that it can be adjusted to achieve true level within its speciifications.

It is a great price on a new one. Unfortunately KBC insists on using fairly expensive Fedex for shipping which is $25 for this one item.

I was hoping to find a nice used starrett for the price of a new accusize. There was one in Red Deer on kijiji a couple of weeks ago for $100, but cost of gas to go get it is prohibitive and seller wouldnt ship it (which I totally understand).

I'll keep an eye out for a used one. ;) I'm in no real rush.

In case you get desperate, I just checked and all the accusize units (standard & premium) can be calibrated.

That's a smoking deal. I paid $100 for my used 4 inch Starrett and was thinking about selling it but I don't think I would sell it for $80.
