  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

WTB 6'-10' metal planer BC

Now that my shop is coming closer to being finished, figured I would start putting my feelers out too see If I can locate a metal planer to take up some of my new found space.

I'm not picky on condition aslong as has enough parts to possibly make it functional. Willing to travel few provinces over for the right size.

Will even consider fishing one out of a basement if anyone has been crazy enough to build a house over one.

I guess let me know if you or a loved one has seen one in the wild that may be looking to be rehomed. I'm sure some random farmer has one buried somewhere. Feel free to rat out a neighbor I won't judge.

Ps. Spotted a nice 36" one down in Oregon if anyone is looking for a smaller one.

I recall maybe 10 years ago someone gave one away in the Kootenays. Was a beautiful piece, and I wanted so bad, but just no where to put it...... I am probably just going to have to settle for my shapers.

In over two years of posting in MSD's, this is the only one I've seen (from February this year):

Ye I saw one posted about 3 years ago was a 8' in Kelowna with Bridgeport head for 1500$ It keeps me up a night lol. And from my internet searching of old forum posting there was a 10' in Kamloops posted for sale in 2013 and was available after a while for free till 2020 I msged a fellow on practical machinist forums who was in contact with owner to see if it ended up getting scrapped.

I wish I bought the one in Kelowna but wasn't doable at the time soooo here we are today lol. I'm slowly putting out ads seeing what I can get away before being blocked from listing more lol.

I've added 'metal planer' to my daily search terms. If something comes up...

Involved response. In 2015 my employer bought a Monarch lathe and a Bridgeport mill from Lenmark in Langley. Lenmark was selling all the gear from a company that rebuilt old machine tools, they probably had a dozen Monarchs and some truly amazing gear. I recall they had a couple of planers, but I don’t see anything listed today. I’d suggest contacting Lenmark and see if it gets you anywhere.

Once I cover the interior BC with my ads I'll start attacking coast. Maybe I can get some nibbles on stuff that they may of had.

From my experiences dealing with lenmark doubt anyone's around from that time and they can't keep track of anything on a good day even if it was bolted down.
