What’s it Worth - Surface Plate

I recently picked up some things from a Kijiji ad (more about that later in Kijiji hauls) and the seller had a surface plate but had no idea what it was or what it’s worth. I decided that I didn’t have a burning need for one anyhow so I passed.

I told her (the spouse of the late owner) what it was and that she should search the web for info & value.

It’s 24 x 18 x 3 with no name etc. and I had no way of guessing condition so value is a tough one but does anyone have any educated guesses? I’m thinking of letting her know so she could price it correctly. I think that’s the right way to give her a hand while she divests of her spouses tool collection.

Thanks,

Hmmm….. I’m seeing an Amazon ad for under $430 LINK and some ads for MIT and others at about $1k so I suspect the ask would be more than the smaller BB.

Thoughts? Would $2 - 250 seem more realistic?

I hate to be a party pooper but...... $100 and be prepared to take $50. Especially with no maker and no cert. Without that, it's basically just a place to put stuff and/or so the buyer can say he has a stone. It's not something you could trust. And certifying it would cost more than a new stone.

I paid $100 for a pink Starrett B grade of this size with stand Without it graded I wouldn’t put that high a value on it.

I agree with the around 100$ crowd could maybe be used for checking stuff but probably gonna end up used as a stick on lap plate or something similar.
