Weiss VM32 CNC Conversion

Aside from the "bait and switch" vibe that this has, the Masso record of software releases is less than annual. So if one was to ante up the subscription fee and there were no updates, they would have basically paid for something and never received the goods.
The first three items, the app, realtime job tracking and G-code messaging from all accounts I've read are pretty much never used because no one leaves their machines unattended while running.
That looks a lot like the Bambu 3D printer world. I don't remember. Do you connect yours via Ethernet or is only WiFi available?

that's a nasty surprise. Although per the forum it appears they don't fix bugs or release updates so being stuck with what you have now won't be a bad thing.
You pretty much nailed it Gerrit. They have been so slow to release updates that annual would be a 100% improvement over the current state.
And to be fair, UCCNC which I use on my CNC router is far slower:
This is a post I made earlier this year on the UCCNC forum:

I am trying to figure out why the current release of UCCNC is only 1.2113.
1.2113 was released for testing in Feb 2020. Since then there have been five additional releases:

1.2114 released Aug 2021
1.2115 released Oct 2021
1.2116 released Nov 2023
1.2117 released Jul 2024
1.2118 released Mar 2025

Since three years have passed and three additional releases made since 1.2115 was released it must be ready for prime-time. Some of the releases contain long list of improvements and bug fixes.

What's the delay in making the releases since 1.2113 production ready?

My printer or the Masso?
Printer is wifi only but I keep it in LAN mode. Masso is offline.
Sorry. Meant the MASSO. So you use sneakernet to insert an SD card or USB dongle with the G-Code?
To be fair, I've not been able to get the WiFi modules I have here working reliably on my network. Or to be more precise LinuxCNC hangs after a day or so of having a WiFi USB module connected. If I install a second Ethernet board I can connect via hard wire.

It does have wifi capability but I haven't added the antenna. I do the CAD/CAM on my laptop, save the files to the cloud and download on my shop laptop, transfer to the USB drive and to the Masso.

I suspect those small one-or-two person companies are struggling to get revenue once their niche is saturated. Sucks to be sure. And there are lots of grbl spawn with some excellent GUI's that will do the job as well.
I wrote GrblPanel a very long time ago, stopped development and support long ago. Yes once in a while I still see it being used. It even ran a Bridgeport in France. So for hobby users who are will to put up with a bit of fiddling the lower cost of entry is appealing.
Having the DDCS or whatever called controller from AliExpress also doesn't help their sales when cost is the major criteria. Newest version even supports ethernet for file transfer.

I've often wondered how good these really are?

As a relative CNC noob, the one thing I will say works in Masso's favour is their documentation is very good. Wiring the Masso was a breeze compared to my AXBB-E controller from CNCDrive. I'll admit that I am considering switching to something else but the thought of wiring in a new controller is somewhat daunting.

I understand the the DDCS v4.1 is pretty good but support is non-existent.

Rumour has it that there's a new FlexiHAL in the works... I know how much you like experimental hardware :)

(Disclosure, that is me)
Thanks Andrew, what's the current flavour favourite for control software for the FlexiHAL?

GRBLHAL and ioSender?
Yes, I use IOSender Touch or regular IOSender. Lots of folks using Gsender as well, though that is maybe more biased towards woodworking.
