Weekly community thrift haul thread

Found this box level today. $7. Don’t really need another box level, but English made, aluminum. Needs some TLC but the price was right.

Not many finds lately. Been pretty busy, but scored this Mitutoyo square head tonight in a bag of value village goodies. Two other junk heads, and a couple decent screwdrivers (philips and red robby).

Also picked up the white LED light at the Restore tonight, and the other black one a few weeks ago. It still counts because it's sat in the same spot on the bench since then lol. Been too busy lately to do anything out there, but should have some time this weekend.

I like these lights (discontinued from Ikea). Nice long stiff flexible neck, and throw off enough light to be useful. I have 3 now, and can probably stop buying them....

Yesterday’s Value Village score: Iwata Revolution air brush. $2.99 plus tax. Then $20 on Amazon to get the matching air hose.

And then came the obligatory engraved label for the storage box, just because I can.

Hint to the previous owner: airbrushes work much, much better if you clean then after use.

Nice score. I'm not up to speed on all Iwata models ( I have a different one). But even if anything is permanently buggered or seized you can still get parts for these. Just a random CDN interweb hit.

Not thrift store find related but paint equipment maintenance related
I picked up a Titan 410 airless paint sprayer for $80 because the seller said it didn’t work.
No bloody wonder.
The return hose also had 1/4” of paint buildup on the outside.

Today's finds, $17 total including taxes:

Stanley #921 10" brace, good condition, clever ratchet mechanism, and I might get ambitious and turn down and thread the ratchet shaft to fit a 1/2"-20tpi keyless chuck. Made sometime between 1907 and 1950, Stanley discontinued this model in 1950.

And a nice Diston 14" backsaw. Some surface rust, decent sharp, and handle looks like it's never been used in anger.

This might be sacrilege, but I already have three other braces that I use regularly, so I’m not disparaging old tools. Took a couple of hours, and a $10 thrift store (dead and no battery) Porter Cable hammer drill. Swapped chucks, so the no-longer-vintage Stanley #921 brace now has an impact-rated 1/2 keyless three-jaw chuck. Perfect for use with 1/2” shank countersinks.

I had 5 of these ikea led spots and they all burned out

Haven't visited any of my usual stops in a long time but I had to make a trip into Ptbo today to get a battery for the truck and picked up these guys.

I think I did ok for $28.22 :D. This is the same value village that will price a steel/rubber handle claw hammer from Canadian tire in the 80's at $12, so spotting these at that price was a bit of a shock.

Yep. Looks to be all there too, and I'd be surprised if it was ever used. The turning tools I don't really have a use for, as I've got many duplicates already, but the carving chisels will be a nice addition. I have smaller ones, but no bigger ones like this. Always nice finding tools I didn't know I needed......

Today's weird Value Village score:

Eight kant-twist clamps, oddball, made by Destaco, nothing like these shown on the Destaco website. Marked as Princess Auto #8089419. Nothing on the PA website either. Made of polymer, with rotating round soft wheels as the jaws.

But for $8.50 for eight of them, how can I lose?
