What, you never saw a short bed lathe without a tail stock?

The tail stock probably is attached to the over arm when needed.

We see lots of lathes, short and long bed without tail stocks. Mostly they are for sale!!
I think there were a number of articles in Home Shop Machinest or the sister magazine some time ago about turning various projects in a mill instead of a lathe, as if I remember rite the writer did not have a lathe.

A long watch but I'm not too proud to admit this kind of sketchy stuff happens in my shop too.
