  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Folks

looking for 7-8 feet (3x28 min lengths) of 1-1/4" up to 2" square bar or tubing. can be 1x2" etc as long as one side is no less than 1" and the other is no more than 2". If tubing, should be .125 nominal.

Tried Metal Supermarket (why do I do that...) and they wanted over $100 for bar. Umm....that was scrap pricing.

Check on federal metals web site. Prices are listed. Steel inc is open sat and will be 29% more. Convenient & cleaner material ...

got a nice way to 'rip' a piece of steel? also...not sure if its going to be any cheaper that way since they mostly charge for the weight
 
thats a better price; Princess Auto wanted over $4.60/ft

did some more figuring and I think what I'll need is 2x2x.188..looks like $5/ft not crazy butI really dont need pretty stuff as this is going to be used under a machine and costmetics are irrelevant
 
pulled the trigger and bought 10' @ Federal. Only needed 7' but silly that Federal @ 10' was CHEAPER than Metal Supermarket @ 7' by almost $10!!! 40% difference per foot

Part that ticked off off the most was guy @ MS told me that he was 'discounting the prices'...yet I already had looked them up online and all he was doing was quoting that...not cool.
