The second article I posted above talked about the extra time required to keep a carbide graver properly sharpened when most of the time you do not need to use a carbide graver. It then went on to explain how a cobalt graver could be kept sharp with less effort and I bought into the idea.
Presently I believe everything I have for my watchmakers lathe is M2. There might be a couple items made from some O2 tool steel, but not used very often. I just wanted to have a nicer set of gravers ready to go if I need them.
