Wanted: 1" Walnut dowel

The second article I posted above talked about the extra time required to keep a carbide graver properly sharpened when most of the time you do not need to use a carbide graver. It then went on to explain how a cobalt graver could be kept sharp with less effort and I bought into the idea.

Presently I believe everything I have for my watchmakers lathe is M2. There might be a couple items made from some O2 tool steel, but not used very often. I just wanted to have a nicer set of gravers ready to go if I need them.
 
Yes, all the KBC links are HSS not carbide. I've heard the same thing, carbide are hard but much less forgiving especially for hand work.

Way to go, now I'm looking at this cool graver stuff when I should be hitting the hay for work tomorrow! LOL

I also have a small compound slide for my lathe and the tool holder uses 3/16" round bits. I have a bunch of M2. I see KBC has the 3/16" round in higher cobalt. ADD to CART. lol.

Ordered 02:00am Thursday morning from KBC. Bits showed up Saturday morning. Now that is pretty good service.

Just found them sitting on my door step an hour ago (11:00 pm Saturday night). From the security camera it appears Fedex just throws things on the door step now and does not ring your door bell.


All bits marked China. Compared to the MSC direct pricing and shipping, I'm happy.
