  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. Vfd question

The price is dropping so fast, it is concievable that servo motors might include their own drivers at similar prices as today in not-too-many years. Thus servo motors could become "digital" in a sense. These controllers could even include their own oscillators and become a variable speed DC motor at some nominal voltage...

The STMBL drive originally used the IRAM256-2067A but that was discontinued. Too bad really because it had a max voltage of 600V and 20A. So generating 3 phase from a 320VDC power supply was easy. The biggest problem with the STMBL is it's Linux oriented. Which means it has good design ideas along with the crap.
Although I don't think they ever added the code to be able to use a 0-10V signal for speed control. Either step/dir or smart serial. I use step/dir for my harmonic drive which is rated at 160VDC but I'm using it with a 105VDC power supply. The harmonic drive also has an encoder but I believe the STMBL can run without one.
