Pulled this never used tap out of my tap index yesterday and it's noticeably larger than a standard 10-32 tap, perhaps the xX has something to do with that?

Misprint or perhaps I need to be enlightened on tap designations?

Is the 2B thread class?

I see 2B larger to accommodate plating ?

Just a guess from their catalog? They use the word EG with (STI) in brackets. I think STI is for inserts or helicoil or something? Maybe EG is a euro standard/word for same thing?

EG 6560 is thread insert tap, pg 105 of the above link
2B is the tolerance

Thanks, that makes sense, unlikely I will ever use it. It is larger by about the thickness of an insert. Mystery solved.

I see you've solved the mystery but you questioned if it could be mislabeled... yes I have a die that is labeled wrong. It caused me great confusion until I figured that one out.
