Stick welder issues

A mouse made it’s home in my stick welder. I haven’t used it in a couple years. Removed the nest. I noticed the Amp dial getting more difficult to turn the last few times I have used it and now it’s locked tight. I am hoping just by removing the guide blocks on the outside it will free up.

You will likely have to disassemble the portions that make contact with eachother and scuff with an emery cloth, or brush with a brass brush.

Mice cause more electrical damage than almost anything. Bastards.

Recommendation for the next winter (mice season) - put few moth balls (naphthalene) in the drawer or container were you keep your stuff and they will never make a nest or chew anything there. That should be real naphthalene balls, though, not any modern suff.

Thanks, I do that with other things like outdoor cushions. It just seems like a never ending battle.

60 years ago we were told moth balls would get rid of the bats in our attic in an old farm house the folks had just purchased...damn bats would squeak all night...didnt work, they just rolled them around like toys and now we had to listen to them play their games with them and the incessant squeaking .

Full Copper (not plated) scrub pads work even better. Mice, rats, and bats don't like Copper in their mouths.

I never had any success with moth balls. In fact, they didn't even help with moths.

The mouse and rat snap traps work great but require constant tending. I tried a 5 gal pail with a swing lid just recently and it catches multiple mice at once but needs even more tending. I also think dead mice are easier to get rid of than the ones that think your pant leg is a safe escape route. Dumb rodents don't seem to know that just brings a faster demise.
