Not sure this one has much on anything. This one looks like it is in long need for a refurb and some reworking to fix bubba's damage to it. Does the south bend have its motor in the pedestal? Also does the south bend have power cross slide? I think a big plus for the standard modern is the speed select on the spindle.
 
This one does not have the separate feed rod and lead screw. So power feed undoubtedly wears out the lead screw which would be the same as your sb9.

The 10/12 or 11/13 inch utilathes all have separate feed rods and lead screws… so that’s a definite minus over a different SM utilathe.

This one has the motor mounted behind the headstock and is most surely a 56 frame motor, which would make for extremely easy VFD conversion. Some of them have motors down in the cabinet which would suck more.

I can't speak for the Standard Modern, but the South Bend 9a and 9b have a keyway that runs the full length of the leadscrew and drives a feather key in the apron. Very little if any wear on the leadscrew at all.
A 9c however uses the threaded leadscrew and half nuts for longitudinal feed.
 
The 10k's are 48 - 1435 and have 12 speeds with their two step drive pulley and 16 speeds with the vee belt headstock rather than the flatbelt.
 
And I yet again wonder why sellers don't take 6 minutes to remove all the junk and wipe off a bit of the grime from the machine they are selling. Might not sell for more, but likely sell quicker if you can actually see the whole thing, rather than a pile of junk with a lathe underneath..

This for sure. See this with collector cars. Car covered in dust and dirt boxes stacked on it and they guy wants top dollar. Clean it up a little bit, you might not get any more for it but it will definitely sell sooner.
