  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Some stuff needs a ride to Vancouver Island and Ontario.

Is anybody from Calgary going to Vancouver Island? And also to Ontario? I have a box of plastic fastener sizers to send out west and east for the members and possibly lathe chuck keys if anybody wants to buy any. I am blowing them out for $10. Canada post will charge about $20-25 to ship but maybe somebody can take them with them if they’re headed that way and leave with a member for more local distribution.

I have 12 or so 3/8 and 12 M10 and a few in the other sizes M11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16mm.

The keys are really nice and a pleasure to use. Adjustable handle for fast or high torque. Stainless steel, spring loaded friction on the torque bar. Twist knurled nut to tighten.

So what ever happened with @a smile ?
You still in contact with him John?
He sort of disappeared from the forum. Too bad. He was an interesting innovator and a regular forum contributor. Strange things happen in China sometimes.

I'm sorry that I haven't appeared in the forum for a long time!
I spent a lot of time to come to Los Angeles, California, USA, and just started my new life. There are still many things to start from scratch. Now I just have a little time to enter the forum.
I should be able to get my driver's license this month, and then buy a car and rent a house, and gradually build my mechanical shop. Mechanical hobbies are still my indispensable hobbies. My email: [email protected].

Congratulations on the move. You have chosen an interesting time to move to America.

When did you move?

@a smile

Welcome back to the forum. We missed you.
That is a BIG MOVE!
I hope you are able to get settled in and get comfortable with your new home very quickly.
Are you on your own? Did you bring family or is your new home close to family?
In PMs i had mentioned my trip to China - it was many years ago but it gave me an understanding of how very different the Chinese culture is from N American. I’m sure you will adapt. Good luck!

Wow! Big change! You sure put in a ton of work on your shop and tools back in China, I hope you are able to replicate it in America, and hopefully you got something in return for the tools you had.
Good luck, and if things aren't working out down there, go north young man and we will see you when you get here.

Wow....... Now that's what I call a move!

I knew you were thinking about such a move based on your many questions, but I didn't expect to see you move so soon.

I trust everything has gone well for you and can't wait to hear all about it.
