SM1230 pickup

My lovely bride has, indeed, come out to the garage to have a peak at the lathe. At first, she pointed to the mill and asked, "This?" "No, dear, this."

As I've noted before, she is oblivious to what goes on in the shop, bless her pea-picking little heart.

A coupla pics to be posted later, seeing as the delivery was uneventful they're pretty boring.

Youde rather we would have tipped it over or lost the tailstock for a little excitement?

In my eyes an uneventful and speedy lathe delivery is the best kind!

That's the way I read it. I figured he has a photo of driving 5km/hr on the highway......
I was going what the truck said was 100. DB says it’s closer to 96 though.

In Alberta highway speed limit on a double lane is 110. Everyone typically goes about 120.

So me at 96 is significantly slower then traffic at 120.

I know you easterners like the 90 speed limit.

Things are changing here. 100 used to be the norm on divided highways, and a speed limit of 80 on non-divided. But in the last few years, they have been busy changing 80 to 90 and 100 to 110. I have no idea what is driving that change. It's not the norm to relax standards.

The QE2 between Calgary and Edmonton has a posted speed limit of 110.

I doubt a cop would pull you over for any less than 135.

I used to drive QE11 at the 110 posted until the day of the funeral for Mayorthorpe 4, I was on that highway in the morning doing my usuall speed limit and must have been passed by 75 cars with uniformed officers heading to Edmonton for the service...90% left me like I was standing still , the 10 % were just going prob 130 ...after that i thought if its ok for them, fine with me!!

Need to be careful to avoid policy debates - road tax vs carbon tax, etc.
Jeez yes, sorry David, wasn't thinking along those lines at all.

I'm totally amazed at how many Dodge Rams we see taking off from a red light, full throttle, all smoke and thunder and half way down the block they're on the brakes for the next red. Makes me think fuel prices (and non politically speaking fuel t:&*#s) aren't too high after all.

In our defence, you don’t have to try really hard at all to make em smoke, and any sort of tune makes them faster then most vehicles by quite a bit.

Please don’t raise my diesel prices

Gettin' her out into the daylight. Needed an anchor to the quad as it was downhill once out the door and the rollers would have made for a speedy exit.

Up in the air, replete w/ a tag line.

Securely strapped down, w/ plywood protectors across the ways.

Yeah, the trip wasn't that speedy.

Pulling over to confirm the tailstock was still there.

More air time. And just look at that crane! Quite the little F'er...

More or less in place in her new home, tailstock intact.
