  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. When the Form Labs One came out I was very intrigued. But it was very expensive so I bought an FDM printer. Now it appears china has copied the basic design and is selling them all over the internet. I am intrigued and hope it could be a replacement for my well loved wanhao i3. Does anyone here own an SLA printer? I am attaching a link to one of the many knockoff SLA printers available so you can see what I mean.

I've only played around with FDM printers at my local library and never yet made the dive into owning my own because I don't like the dominant PLA material they use. It just isn't durable enough for most things I would like to do. Maybe some day, maybe soon!
 
What would you do with it that your fdm printer is lacking? Not that you need a reason just curious. Is it much better at small details?

By the gram I see the resin is about twice the price of PLA. After a print can you put the unused fluid back in the bottle or do you just leave it in the printer for next time?

The number one reason I want one is just to try something new. I do think the printed parts look noticeably nicer than a similar priced FDM printer. The biggest problem I see is the print area is very small.
 
Here is a SLA printer printing objects 0.001" wide. The benchy is super small with an overall length of 30 microns or 0.0012"

I think they want to print tiny machines.

Interesting - I also noticed that the print area is tiny. I am thinking of getting a printer for myself for Christmas - something to play around with other then metal.

Notice that shipping from China is cheaper then shipping from USA.
