Silversmithing

Hi Peter,

it is a Victor style torch. I run Oxy Acetylene. Knowing me I probably just used the cutting tip in this case to heat the parts. I do have other, special brazing tips.

i found that I have to be patient and use low heat and let it soak into the metal. I also try to feed in the solder from an area opposite to the flame and draw it into the joint. Basically just like low temp soldering copper pipe.

Copper is also an excellent choice for jewellery. It has a nice color, and it solders nicely to silver, with silver solder. 13879_9f9bcad247b72e7368ffdb93dfe0a14c.jpg I decided to try making a peice with mixed metals by combining silver with a copper ring band, and setting some chromium diopside gemstones into the mix.
I also crafted a more complex flower design, set with orange saphire, dematoid garnet, and topaz.
