Umm... I'm just trying to find the words... oh, there they are:
HOLY SHIT?! $4400?!
I'm not ready to expose the rest of my disaster-area-in-progress (had to jam a bunch of stuff in when the weather turned
and I'm tearing out a wall), but I'll show you this much. After 25 years of not having any heat in my garage, I finally quit screwing around last winter and did something about it. Bought a 30K BTU/hr radiant on kijiji for $500 from a guy up around Red Deer. Cost a hundred to get it trucked here, and another few hundred for hanging hardware, the iron pipe and fittings for extending the gas line from the (attached) house, and proper inlet/outlet vent -
and I'm pretty sure the total didn't break a grand. Just turned it up a couple of weeks ago and it's running nicely, though it didn't take long for me to figure out that a lot of the heat is rising - and staying risen - so I'm going to add a ceiling fan to stir it down. I'd never considered a forced air (either floor or hung) because of both the noise and the real estate (in the case of a floor unit).
Forgive the terrible photo - I couldn't back up further 'cause there's a car in the way. It's tilted at 45 degrees with the required clearances, so it's not actually pointing straight down at the various possibly-flammable stuffs on the shelf below - they're a little behind it.
