Sneakers here also. You have to at some point realize that the best safety warnings is your brain, it is activated when you say “ Hmmmm “ the same with “ Fight or Flight“ both of these have a direct effect on the process of Natural Selection by any given species.

Up until 10 years ago I would buy a couple new pairs when I was in Chicago for the NPE.
Now teenagers are getting so big that stores have ‘inventory’ of large sizes.

I use non-steel toe elastic sided AirWalk Dr Martins with insoles. Since I get sore feet if I’m walking on concrete too long.

I have a nice pair of steel toe blundstones which are likely destined to become my workshop boots when I retire.

Slip-on steel toed shoes, and very well-developed machinist reflexes.

Oooh, I do like those. Getting my elastic sided boots on sometimes can be a real bear.

Some accidents happen so fast the brain doesn't even get to "Hm" and it's over.

True but if you know what needs to be done as well as what could happen it should point you in some kind of direction. Here we have a lot of people starting out as
Hobbyists unsure of some safety do’s and dont’s adding to the fact it is usually done by yourself.

Even the smartest and most experienced people make mistakes in their given trade.

I depends what I'm doing in the shop. I had been wearing Terra boots at work for years. Comfortable and they stand up well and their made in Canada. I saw a pair of Terra Albany CSA safety work shoes on canadianfootwear.com on sale for $100 so I ordered them. They are sturdy and very comfortable I'm pleased with them for the price and they are going on five years old next summer. I was dissapointed to see they were made in Asia not Canada.
