Something about the pictures makes it look like its a miniature or travelling salesman model. I am sure its not, just how it appears to me.
Its a filter, to simulate the look you can get with a tilt and shift lens. They're not models or miniatures

It's probably a perfectly good lathe, but as far as I can tell S/M hasn't made this model since the late 70s, so $13K for a four-decade-old 13"x18" lathe seems a bit steep. If I had that type of coin for a lathe, I don't think it would be huge stretch to find a used Monarch 10EE or a used newer S/M or Kent for a similar amount.

A brand new Kent 13x40 is $22K CDN from KBC

If this was a "barnfind" factory new, still wrapped and on the pallet with all the extras it might be worth it to some one. The paint job just doesn't add $9k + to the value.

As much as I love mine and wouldn't trade for any other machine, still wouldn't pay that kind of money for it.

Now, just as info, this was originally marketed as a 13x20 or an 11x20. I've done a far amount of research on SM and this lathe and haven't come across a 13x18.
