This article was posted in a club I belong to. He wrote up this how-to sheet after a few painful UPS experiences shipping in hobby related goods from the USA. I have not replicated his procedure myself, so cant add much more. Might come in handy one day, but exercise due diligence.

Sounds like potentially lots of work and depending on where you live in the city and what you drive may even cost more than simply using your own broker and pay like 11CAD brokerage fee per shipment for UPS/ DHL/ FedEx. Been doing it for years now. Its twice as much as Canada post but way better deal than using UPS as a broker or DHL or FedEx.

Yup, my thoughts too. Someone mentioned they had a shipment 'un-expectantly' arrive by UPS (vs. USPS as they prescribed. Someone got their wires crossed. So maybe more of an FYI bailout plan B.

I wish I had known about this fix when I ordered a vacuum from the US. It cost me $390 to get it home!
