  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Maybe it is just the picture, but it looks like the threads are completely gone from the leadscrew!

I can see some threads. I have a partial 109 lathe. The leadscrew threads are relatively fine. It’s a very lightly built lathe. Most of them come with a bent spindle.
 
My 109 came with a bent spindle. Don't remember step 1, but step two was to turn a 60 degree on the spindle nose and then mount a steel shaft between centers and make a new spindle for the lathe. Still works great. Mine had a split bushing with a nut on the inboard end so you could tighten up the bearing to compensate for wear. I know a lot of people hate on these lathes, but I've used it for lots of things. Heavy duty?? No. But it does make things round if you work within its envelope.
